A deep dive into the nature of false positives of bad code smells

Published in the "The Art, Science, and Engineering of Programming"

  • An earlier version of this page contained a supplement. This has been mostly integrated as appendix into paper.
  • On the first submission the subtitle had been “An exploratory deep dive into the nature of false positives of bad code smells”. The term “exploratory” comes from “exploratory case study” but does not fit too well into the metaphor of a “deep dive”. As suggested by a reviewer the title becomes simpler and more consistent by leaving “exploratory” aside. The correct subtitle is thus “A deep dive into the nature of false positives of bad code smells”. Unfortunately the old subtitle made it out into the wild, so there might be pages refering to the paper by the old subtitle.
