Using an external plugin directory with Eclipse 3.4

Note that a external plugin directory will only work in Eclipse 3.4

  • Create a directory (for your plugins) anywhere you want
  • Download jtransformer_2.6.1.zip and unzip it in your directory (keep the directory structure from the zip file)
  • Create a shortcut from your eclipse.exe file
  • Edit this shortcut and add in the field “target” the following commands:

-vmargs -Dorg.eclipse.equinox.p2.reconciler.dropins.directory=“YOUR_EXTERNAL_PLUGIN_DIRECTORY”

  • For example your shortcut should look like this: “C:\eclipse\eclipse.exe” -vmargs -Dorg.eclipse.equinox.p2.reconciler.dropins.directory=“D:\externalPlugin”
